Avera Return to Competition (ARC)
If you’ve undergone knee, ankle, shoulder or spine surgery and would like to return to your previous level of participation, you’ll benefit from Avera Return to Competition program offered by Avera Sports in Sioux Falls, SD. This post-therapy program helps you get back in the game.
Work with our expert rehabilitation staff to develop a customized plan, refine specific sport skills and achieve your goals. ACR sessions may include:
Plyometrics
Multidirectional movement exercises reinforce proper jumping, landing, cutting and deceleration mechanics. Improve lower body coordination, explosiveness and agility. Return your lower body strength and power to pre-injury levels.
Sport-Specific Skill Training
Practice your sport under the guidance of our expertly trained staff and in your sport-specific setting. In addition to addressing specific phases of running (starting/stopping, accelerating/decelerating, cutting/change of direction), you can work on sport-specific skills such as shooting a basketball, spiking a volleyball, or hitting a baseball or golf ball.
Strength Training Workouts
Receive a customized plan from Avera physical therapists, athletic trainers and exercise specialists. Upper and lower body strength goals will be determined by your personal surgery and rehab needs.
Super Running Treadmill Exercises
Relearn proper walking and running mechanics, and improve overall body conditioning, strength, stability and flexibility. Backward walking and running activities can also address lower extremity strength and speed deficits.
The ARC program consists of 24 sessions (eight weeks, three times per week) with a cost of $500. No referral is required. To learn more about ARC, call 605-322-FAST (3278).
