Avera Sacred Heart delivers top-quality care through multiple facilities.

Hospital Campus

The main campus of Avera Sacred Heart, 501 Summit, offers inpatient and outpatient care, plus specialized areas:

  • The Birthing Center, comprised of four fully equipped labor, delivery and recovery (LDR) rooms, as well as family-centered, private rooms for your post-partum stay
  • Level III Trauma Center and Emergency Department

The main hospital also houses inpatient surgery, pediatrics, cardiopulmonary services and the heart catheterization lab, Diagnostics and Imaging Center, Intensive Care Unit, cardiac pulmonary rehab, dialysis and outpatient physical therapy center.

The Surgery Center is home to the Avera Same Day Surgery Center, featuring three operating suites plus a procedure room. Two surgical suites are “endosuites” featuring the most advanced endoscopic equipment available. Eleven private rooms for pre- and post- surgery care are designed for comfort with separate baths and TVs. Also in this building, you’ll find:

  • Avera Sacred Heart Wellness Center, with two swimming pools, exercise and weight training rooms, and space for group exercise
  • Spaces for cardiac/pulmonary rehab and outpatient physical therapy
  • Massage therapy

The Pavilion offers space for an amphitheatre and meeting rooms, medical training, and practices for podiatry, oral and maxillofacial surgery, family medicine, behavioral health, pain management, and ear, nose and throat.

The Benedictine Center houses Human Resources, occupational medicine, family medicine and psychological care.

Additional Facilities

  • Avera Cancer Institute Yankton, located just northwest of the hospital campus at 1115 W. 9th St., offers chemotherapy, hormone therapy and a Varian iX linear accelerator with 3-D imaging for precise dosage
  • Avera Sacred Heart Majestic Bluffs, 1.2 miles west of the hospital, is home to Avera Sister James Care Center, assisted living and independent living apartments and town homes, adult day services, memory care and a hospice residential house. A town center features a deli and café, general store, pub, theater, activity center, children’s play area, bank, post office and beauty salon.
