St. Michael’s is a Critical Access Hospital, licensed for 25 acute care beds. The hospital offers swing bed care in which patients may have a short-term to long-term residential stay. The hospital also sponsors the Bon Homme Family Practice Clinics Avera in Tyndall and Avon as well as Bon Homme Pharmacy Avera. A wide range of diagnostic and treatment services is available for outpatients and inpatients.

Wellness Center
St. Michael’s Wellness Center is located on the northwest corner of the hospital/clinic. The Wellness Center offers a wide array of workout equipment, including cardio equipment, free weights, and weight machines. Single, senior citizen, teen, family, and exercise class memberships are available on a quarterly and annual basis. Call 605-589-2100 for current rates.
Pharmacy
Bon Homme Pharmacy Avera is located in the main lobby of St. Michael’s Hospital Avera and Bon Homme Family Practice Clinic Avera. This is a full service pharmacy that accepts all third party insurance. We offer prescription and over-the-counter medications, diabetic shoe fitting and sales, pure vitamins (hypo-allergenic), deliveries and mail services. Schedule a Physician Appointment
Call the scheduling receptionist at Bon Homme Family Practice Clinics Avera to arrange a physician appointment. Tell us the reason for your visit so we can set up the right span of time. Once you schedule an appointment, plan to arrive 15 minutes early. The Tyndall clinic can be reached at 605-589-2190 and the Avon clinic can be reached at 605-286-3888.
Outreach Services
We offer many outreach specialty services, with visiting physicians in specialties such as cardiology, general surgery, and podiatry. This includes a monthly comprehensive Foot Clinic. St. Michael’s Hospital Avera originated in 1949 in the Dr. H. Klima home. A new hospital was constructed in 1950 through the generosity of the local community, with an addition and extensive remodeling in 1968. St. Michael’s Hospital Avera has been a Catholic institution since 1949, shortly after its beginning. The Catholic identity, initiated by the Benedictine Sisters, is now derived from a relationship with the Sioux Falls Catholic Diocese.
