Patients’ families can use a patient tracking system on their mobile device to stay updated on whether the patient is in pre-op, surgery or recovery. Or families can use a pager to know when the patient is in recovery. In the meantime, families can roam the Prairie Center to view art displays or grab a bite to eat in our café. Note: For pediatric surgeries, we offer a separate pediatric recovery area. Parents can accompany their children to the surgical suite and rejoin them in recovery.
If you’re scheduled for surgery at our center, you should receive a call from our pre-anesthesia team within one to five business days prior to your procedure. If you have questions or need assistance, please call 605-322-8211 weekdays, 8:30 AM – 5 PM.
It’s also important to follow staff instructions in prepping for your surgery. Please be sure to wear comfortable clothing plus bring insurance, medication and supplement information and paperwork provided by your surgeon. Leave valuables at home, and if you’ll have anesthesia, you’ll want to arrange for a ride home.
