Patients trust our team of skilled experts, including specializations in cardiology, interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, vascular intervention and cardiothoracic surgery. Physicians at North Central Heart, a division of Avera Heart Hospital, are on campus and provide outreach care in over 35 locations in three states. Planet Heart screenings in Sioux Falls take place at another Avera facility a couple blocks east of our hospital. Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment.
Cardiac Rehab
Don't let fear of an elevated heart rate stop you from exercising. With the help of cardiovascular specialists and nutrition experts, you can regain control of your life and feel like yourself again. Our cardiac rehabilitation services provide a safe, monitored space for exercise — giving you peace of mind when recovering from a heart attack, disease or surgery.

Radiology & Imaging
We offer innovative imaging technology; CT scans, angiogram and ultrasound available for clinical staff to order around the clock for patients making scheduled or emergency visits. Experts conduct comfortable and quick imaging, so you receive accurate diagnosis which will determine the right treatment for your health.

Laboratory
You also have access to a wide range of laboratory services that contribute to accurate diagnosis of medical conditions. Expert specialists conduct safe and reliable lab testing, helping you and your provider get the results you need to start an effective and personalized treatment plan.
Prairie Heart Guest House
This 39-room guest house is a motel-like facility connected to both North Central Heart Institute and the Avera Heart Hospital. Loved ones visiting can comfortably stay here in rooms with two queen beds and accommodations like Wi-Fi, television, laundry and hair dryers. Two of the rooms are fully handicap accessible.
To check availability, please stop at the hospital lobby’s concierge desk when you arrive or call us if you have any questions. The Prairie Heart Guest House does not take reservations as the length of stay for families tends to be undetermined and varies case-by-case.

Heart Fresh Café
Daily breakfast, lunch and supper specials are available for visitors at the Heart Fresh Café. Enjoy a range of options with chef-prepared meals made from scratch using wholesome, fresh ingredients, such as homemade soups, salad bar, desserts, beverages and a grab-n-go cooler.
Refer to posted signage outside cafeteria as well as the Prairie Heart Guest House for hours of service and off hours options. Family members may request a room service meal to be brought to the patient's room or to the guest house.

Visitor Information & Hours
We value the support of family and friends just as much as the care provided by our staff. Patients can stay in the same room from admission to discharge. Instead of patients having to move to the staff, our dedicated team and specialists go to the patient as needed.
