Hand County Memorial Hospital was established in 1947. In 2008, Hand County Memorial Hospital signed a lease with Avera, enhancing integrated health services through a provider-based system of care. Avera Hand County Memorial Hospital is a leader in patient satisfaction and has a strong commitment to Miller and the surrounding communities.
Through a major building enhancement project, we added larger private and semi-private patient rooms, new same-day surgery and recovery rooms, a new emergency department, renovated wellness and rehab areas, expanded clinic, additional assisted living apartments and more.

Avera Hand County Memorial Hospital Foundation
Hand County Memorial Hospital Avera works with two excellent foundations to assist in meeting community needs in a variety of ways. Through the Avera Foundation, we receive gifts and endowments and manage those as the donor requests. In addition, we also have access to a variety of larger grant opportunities to enhance Miller health care services and the community. Hand County Health, Wellness, and Community Foundation has been in existence since 2009 and was incorporated with the focus of meeting community needs.
