“The best part about my job is developing that relationship and trust between the physician and patient,” said Dr. Liddell. “It’s a team effort to discover what your situation might require: surgery, injections, physical therapy, medication, or a combination of these treatment options.”
Legacy of Military Service
Dr. Liddell was first inspired to serve in the military by his grandfather’s service as a medic on an Army medical ship in World War II. After his initial medical training was completed at Loyola University, Dr. Liddell had the opportunity to receive his residency training as an orthopedic surgeon in the United States Army, at Tripler Army Medical Center. Following that, he was stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C., where he cared for the men and women of the 82nd Airborne and multiple elite special forces groups and their families. In addition, he was asked to serve as the designated staff orthopedic surgeon and sports physician for an elite special forces unit for the U.S. Army Special Operations Command. In 2010, he deployed to Iraq to serve with the 28th Combat Support Hospital.
“Serving my country and those that protect it has been one of the most rewarding experiences in my life,” said Dr. Liddell.
Medical Mission Trips
Dr. Liddell says he’s been blessed to participate in medical mission trips to both Kenya and Guatemala. He hopes he and his wife, a certified registered nurse anesthetist, will again return to their passion for medical missions when their small kids are a bit older.
Awards
He has received multiple awards for his research work in orthopedic surgery and his military service as an orthopedic surgeon. While providing care for our military’s men and women in a combat zone, he was awarded the Bronze Star for his service during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Active Lifestyle
When he’s not at work, Dr. Liddell enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, and working out at the gym.
