Luke DeJong, MD, is a native from northwest Iowa, and now returns to his roots to provide expert care in family medicine and obstetrics to families at Avera Medical Group Spencer in Spencer, IA.
While growing up in Rock Rapids, a young Dr. DeJong found inspiration watching his father care for others. His father had a great impact on the community, and developed many trusted relationships with people and families, said Dr. DeJong.
“These relationships don’t stop in the clinic, but also permeate into the community,” said Dr. DeJong. “I want patients to feel comfortable with me, and even when difficult conversations need to be had, they know I’m an advocate for them.”

Dr. DeJong offers several services at Avera Spencer designed to care for people of all ages and stages of life.
As a family medicine doctor, your whole family can see him for:

- Treatment for minor illnesses and injuries
- Immunizations and an advocate for preventive screenings
- Management of chronic conditions
He’s board-certified in obstetrical care, meaning he can care for growing families from family planning to baby’s birth to post-natal care for both mom and baby. If required, he is expertly trained in C-section deliveries.
Dr. DeJong also provides services in the emergency department.

In his free time, Dr. DeJong enjoys staying active through general fitness, golfing and tennis. He also likes to cook and grill.
