When Jeremy Awori, MD, was considering his future, he knew he wanted his career to help and bring hope to people and communities.
“It was important to me that my work would have an impact” said Dr. Awori. With that in mind, “Medicine was a no brainer.”
Today, his initial mission of making a positive impact is made possible at Avera. Dr. Awori proudly serves patients with expert care in nephrology and kidney care at Avera Medical Group Nephrology in Sioux Falls, SD.
Expert Care in Nephrology
Dr. Awori’s philosophy of care is meeting patients where they’re at. This not only includes gauging their understanding of the condition, but their emotional state as well.
“Sometimes patients need more than care and education,” explained Dr. Awori. “Sometimes they need a hand on the shoulder. Understanding where they are is how I can build a relationship from there.”
Some of the conditions he treats include end stage kidney disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, fluid retention, electrolyte imbalances and blood abnormalities.
Active Lifestyle
Growing up, Dr. Awori played rugby and cricket, so he has a great interest in sports. He enjoys watching soccer on TV in the early, early mornings of Saturday and Sunday.
Dr. Awori also likes spending time with family and traveling both internationally and nationally. As he makes South Dakota his home, he looks forward to exploring its natural beauty and experiencing the Black Hills.
