Certified nurse midwives are registered nurses with advanced training in women's health. Wellness, education and patient empowerment are important facets of midwife care. Nurse midwives independently manage women's health care with the support of other physicians and experts.
During your pregnancy, midwives follow the same course of prenatal care including clinic visits, lab work, ultrasounds and more. Midwives provide support when you’re in the hospital during labor and baby’s birth.
Midwives specialize in pregnancies and births not expected to have complications. However, they also work closely with perinatologists and OB/GYN specialists if complications arise, and they stay with you if intervention is needed.
Women of all ages can see a certified nurse midwife for their annual physical exam including Pap test, breast and pelvic exams, complete health history and general wellness counseling. Certified nurse midwives can screen for and treat vaginal infections, menstrual irregularities, pelvic pain and PMS.
You can get an ultrasound of your unborn baby right here in Plaza 1. Experts conduct comfortable and quick imaging, so you can receive accurate results that help your providers manage the health of both you and your baby.
