Patients from all over the region come to our clinic or via virtual visits to see our team of hematology, transplant and cellular therapy specialists. Many times, patients are referred to our team from a primary care provider. Our board-certified oncologists detect and treat conditions including:
- Aplastic anemia
- Blood cancers such as leukemia, multiple myeloma, myelodysplastic disorders plus Hodgkin’s and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma
- Non-cancerous blood conditions
Doctors use physical tests, blood or bone marrow tests and imaging to detect blood cancers and diseases.
A blood and marrow transplant is an effective treatment for eligible patients with certain cases of leukemia, lymphoma and multiple myeloma. Alongside chemotherapy treatments, a transplant rebuilds your immune system with healthy stem cells. Avera is the region’s only blood and marrow transplant program.
- We provide transplants using both self-donated stem cells (autologous) and donor-match stem cells (allogeneic).
- For self-donors or matched donors, stem cells are collected through a process called apheresis, which is similar to donating blood. There's no surgical procedure involved.
FDA-approved cell therapy uses engineered or altered cells to power your immune system to fight blood cancer. These therapies include CAR T-cell, CAR-NK and TILs.
Receive your chemotherapy and infusion treatments under the care of some of the region’s foremost experts in cancer care. Most infusion suites are private and can be made semi-private by opening sliding doors. This gives patients the choice to receive infusions privately, with friends or family, or enjoying the company of other patients. Infusion suites feature custom-built chairs for comfort as well as TV and plenty of outlets for personal electronic devices.
In addition to your oncology team in this clinic, Avera has a larger, integrated team committed to you. We offer:
- Surgical care including advanced, minimally invasive and robotic techniques
- Radiation therapy
- Chemotherapy and biotherapy
- Genomic medicine (also known as precision oncology)
- Connection to clinical trials that may provide treatment options in addition to standard of care
