Avera Children's Hospital

Avera Children’s Hospital is where you can find our Level IIIB NICU and PICU when you need critical care services for newborns and children. This level of specialty support is available in the hospital and via telemedicine consultation and remote nursing support. When needed, parents can access maternal and neonatal specialized transport throughout the region by Careflight air or ground ambulance.

To help children feel more at ease, child-friendly sedation options like intranasal medication are used instead of IVs for many procedures. Avera Children's Hospital provides other calming services, like special goggles allowing patients to watch movies while having an MRI.

We offer innovative imaging technology; MRI, CT scans and X-rays are available for clinical staff to order around the clock for patients who are hospitalized or making emergency visits.
