About Me

A mission trip to Africa with his physician father helped a young Matthew Taylor, DO, realize that one of the best ways to make an impact in a person’s life is through medicine.

Today, Dr. Taylor honors the memory of his father by caring for patients at Avera Medical Group Pulmonary & Sleep Medicine Sioux Falls in Sioux Falls, SD.

“What I like about being a physician is that I get to hear stories from people that they don’t feel comfortable telling anyone else,” said Dr. Taylor. “People are vulnerable with you, and you get to hear so much of their lives even though they never met you before.”

Expert Care in Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine

As an expert in respiratory and pulmonology and sleep medicine, Dr. Taylor treats a variety of conditions related to the intricate structures that help you breathe. Trust him for thorough and compassionate care for:

  • Interstitial lung disease (scarring of the lung)
  • Respiratory symptoms, such as breathlessness, tight chest or wheezing.
  • Respiratory symptoms related to post-COVID-19 syndrome
  • Pulmonary diseases, such as asthma, COPD, infections and edema

Active Lifestyle

When he’s not at work, Dr. Taylor enjoys spending time with his wife (and their energetic golden retriever) by going on walks or finding a great trail to hike. As for personal interests, he likes to bike, lift weights and run.

“I’m also an avid Chicago Bears fan, which might get me some ‘boos!’” he said, and looks forward to attending their games.

Personal Interests

International travel, indoor and outdoor road cycling, and Chicago sports.
