About Me

Transplant Expertise for Liver, Kidney & Pancreas

If you or a loved one requires an abdominal transplant, you can count on the expert care of Sujit Sakpal, MD, a board-certified transplant surgeon at Avera Medical Group Transplant & Liver Surgery in Sioux Falls, SD.

With specialty training in liver, kidney and pancreas transplant surgery, you can count on Dr. Sakpal’s surgical expertise. He also completed an additional fellowship in critical care and received a board certification in surgical critical care, in order to provide the best and most comprehensive care possible.

“Optimizing care before and after the actual transplant is my focus and the most challenging part of my work,” he says. “I encourage my patients to be very diligent about caring for themselves too. Transplantation is a huge team sport. We’re all here to support the patient, but we’re only doing part of the work. The rest is how patients care for themselves.”

“There’s nothing more fulfilling than being able to help our patients and touch not only their lives, but also the lives of their family and friends,” he adds.

Dr. Sakpal also speaks fluent Hindi.
