Catholic Values
Avera’s sponsors, the Benedictine and Presentation Sisters, encourage all members of the Avera community to understand their work as a healing ministry and to demonstrate God's love for all people. As a Catholic health care organization, Avera is committed to promoting and defending human dignity, caring for the whole person, and giving special attention to the needs of the poor and marginalized. We’re dedicated to maintaining the health and well-being of the rural communities of our region.
Avera adheres to the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services, a document developed by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. It provides authoritative guidance on certain moral issues that face Catholic health care today, and also explains how that guidance flows from the Church’s teaching on the dignity of every person, each of whom is created in God’s image.
