The Prepared Childbirth classes are designed to prepare you for labor, birth, transitions to parenthood, baby care skills, and breastfeeding. This 4 week series covers information on labor and delivery, comfort measures and breathing techniques, and pain relief options in the first 2 weeks of class. Week 3 covers caring for Mom and new baby after birth and week 4 covers breastfeeding. A tour of the Women's Center is included with the series and will be integrated with one of the classes. All classes will be held in the Avera McKennan Education Center located on the ground floor of the Orthopedic Institute at 810 E. 23rd St. Please wear comfortable clothes and bring a pillow night 2 for practice sessions. The fee for this class is $120 which covers both Mom and her support person.

If you take this series of classes, the Caring for Your Newborn information is included. You do not need to register for a separate Caring for Your Newborn class or Breastfeeding class.
