Nationally Accredited Cancer Network

Avera Cancer Institute’s six regional centers and dozens of outreach sites make up the only accredited cancer care network in the region. Our collaborative approach ensures you have access to the latest treatments available. Care teams include oncologists, medical providers, surgeons, social workers, dietitians, chaplains, patient advocates and other specialists.

Network

What’s an accredited cancer network? It means our regional centers all work together to treat cancer throughout the Avera footprint.

Technology

Medical technology is always evolving. Avera’s clinical trials and research advance treatment methods and bring us closer to finding a cure.

Oncology Recognition and Clinical Excellence

Avera’s commitment to high-quality cancer care resulted in network accreditations from both the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (COC) and American Society of Clinical Oncology Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI). These accreditations and certifications not only verify quality and clinical excellence, but also an ongoing dedication to performance improvement, ultimately benefiting patient care.

Commission on Cancer (CoC)

This American College of Surgeons has only granted 60 integrated network accreditations nationwide. To earn accreditation, a cancer program must meet 34 CoC quality care standards, be evaluated every three years, and maintain levels of excellence in the delivery of comprehensive patient-centered care.

QOPI® Certification Program

QOPI Certification emblem

To achieve certification, Avera Cancer Institute had to meet or exceed national quality standards for cancer care. The QOPI Certification Program, LLC, designates Avera Cancer Institute as a large, multi-site practice, which includes the entire Avera Health system and all of our medical oncology and hematology services.
